Over 500 volunteers clean up the coast

In celebration of World Environment Day June 5th, on Sunday morning, 27th May 2018, Nghi Son Refinery & Petrochemical LLC (NSRP) in cooperation with the local authorities organized Community Beach Clean-up Event 2018.

The half-day event attracted the participation of over 500 volunteers, including employees of NSRP, Nghi Son Security Services, AMECC and a large number of local residents in the villages of Bac Yen, Trung Son and Thang Hai.

On behalf of NSRP, Mr. Nguyen Phuong Dong – HSSE&S Division Manager stated: “The Beach Clean-up Event 2018 is a meaningful activity with an aim to raising the awareness of the local residents in minimizing plastic waste, protecting the coastal environment and coping with climate change”.

After three hours of hard work, nearly 2km of the coast was cleaned, over 140 cubic meters of waste was collected and transported to the designated landfill of Nghi Son Environment Company, leaving behind a serene, scenic and waste-free coast for Tinh Hai commune.

Leaning onto the rake planted into the sand, a woman from Bac Yen village wiped the sweats off her forehead, staring aimlessly at the white-sand beach in front of her and exclaimed “It’s been forever since I last saw our beach so clean …”
