On 3 March 2025, Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC (NSRP) welcomed a distinguished delegation from Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical JSC (BSR) to Nghi Son refinery, marking an important milestone in the relationship between the two companies. This was the first time that both Mr. Bui Ngoc Duong – Chairman of the Board of Members, and Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang – CEO, jointly visited NSRP, underscoring BSR’s strong commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation. They were accompanied by senior leaders and managers from key departments across BSR. The delegation was received by General Director Mr. Kazutaka Yamato, Deputy General Director Mr. Pham Van Chat, General Manager of Refinery Mr. Le Nguyen Quoc Vinh, and managers from NSRP’s operational and corporate functions.

The meeting took place at a time of increasing geopolitical uncertainty, as tensions in the Middle East continue to impact global oil markets and energy security. Against this backdrop, the discussions between NSRP and BSR carried added significance, with both parties exploring ways to support domestic market stability and contribute to safeguarding Vietnam’s national energy security amid global volatility.
During the meeting, NSRP and BSR reaffirmed their openness to further collaboration in areas of shared interest, including product exchanges, maintenance and turnaround support, RFCC off‑gas value improvement, and potential coordination in procurement and supply chain activities, and especially the collaboration of crude procurement. NSRP also presented its long‑term strategic direction, highlighting diversification into selected chemical segments and the expansion into the petrochemical value chain through ethylene recovery and olefin integration. With robust infrastructure, experienced manpower, available land, and a favorable permitting environment, NSRP emphasized its readiness to support joint development initiatives that could generate mutual benefits.

The presence of both the Chairman and CEO of BSR reinforced the importance of this partnership and the shared expectation that deeper collaboration will strengthen Vietnam’s refining and petrochemical capabilities. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing appreciation for the constructive discussions and reaffirming their commitment to continued engagement as they explored aligned opportunities for future cooperation.

This milestone visit not only reaffirms the strong foundation between NSRP and BSR but also opens promising new avenues that can contribute to the long‑term development, resilience, and competitiveness of Vietnam’s energy industry.
