NSRP demonstrates robust emergency preparedness in large-scale drill

On November 13, 2025, Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC (NSRP) successfully executed a comprehensive emergency response drill at its refinery in Thanh Hoa Province, reaffirming its commitment to safety, operational resilience, and community protection.

The exercise, held from 14:00 to 17:00, simulated a highly complex industrial incident designed to test the refinery’s readiness and coordination capabilities.

The scenario began with a gasoline leak at facility 028-AC-501 caused by internal corrosion, which ignited during hot work activities. The situation escalated as the fire spread to a chemical storage tank and a DMDS chemical tanker, creating a challenging multi-site emergency that required rapid, coordinated action.

This drill was structured to validate NSRP’s ability to manage firefighting operations, rescue efforts, mass casualty response, and hazardous material containment under real-world conditions.

To ensure a robust response, NSRP deployed 60 emergency personnel supported by 12 fire trucks and ambulances. Reinforcements from Thanh Hoa Fire & Rescue Police added 27 firefighters and 6 emergency vehicles, while the Department of Industry and Trade stood ready with additional resources. In total, 87 responders and 18 emergency vehicles were mobilized, demonstrating the strength of multi-agency collaboration and the depth of NSRP’s emergency preparedness.

The program featured safety briefings, technical presentations, and live emergency response exercises, followed by performance evaluations and lessons-learned discussions aimed at driving continuous improvement. Distinguished guests from provincial authorities, including the CS PCCC & CNCH Department, the Department of Industry and Trade, and the Thanh Hoa PCCC Branch, observed the drill alongside NSRP leadership and security teams, reinforcing the importance of shared responsibility in industrial safety.

Emergency drills like this remain a cornerstone of NSRP’s safety culture. They validate procedures, enhance readiness, and identify opportunities for improvement, ensuring that teams remain vigilant and prepared for any scenario. Insights gained from this exercise will inform future training programs and operational protocols, strengthening NSRP’s commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and community well-being.

Through this successful drill, NSRP once again demonstrated that safety is not just a priority, it is a strong commitment.
