At 1 hour and 15 minutes on August 2, 2020, Vietsovpetro officially marked the event that, after about 4 years- operation (1,322 days) from the date (December 12, 2016) of receiving the first gas follow and condensate, Thien Ung  field (Well TU-6, Block 04-3 ) reached a gas production of 500 million Sm3.

Thien Ung field in Block 04-3 includingTU-6, TU-3X and TU-7 Wells is in water depth of 120 m, 270 km to the southeast from Vung Tau city, and a component among the chain of the gas planning development projects of PetroVietnam.

It is emphasized that Vietsovpetro exploited 500 million Sm3 of gas in the very difficult and challenging conditions with requirements of controlling high content of CO2 in natural gas and limiting gas production regulated by receiving side for ensuring gas amount transferred to the shore by 16 A pipeline (Bach Ho – Dinh Co) having CO2 content less than 0.92%. Therefore, this milestone is very important and worthy for Vietsovpetro labor collective to pride.

As planned, in coming time the extracted production from Thien Ung field will be transferred to Sao Vang rig and landed by second phase 2 – Nam Con Son 2 pipeline.

At that time, CO2 content in gas will increase to 8% and Vietsovpetro will drill the new wells for guaranteeing the plan and economic efficiency of the project with a gas amount supply of 2 million m3 per day.

Putting into operation the BK-TNG rig and ensuring it in safe and uninterrupted operation has created a connection and promotion to develop exploring and exploiting of gas-condensate fields in Nam Con Son basin and the southern continental shelf of Vietnam, as well as contributed an important part to ensuring national energy security and affirming the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the country.
