This is the first 220 kV transmission line across the sea in Vietnam. The project is double line with two conductors by section of 2xAC400 in a phase placed on the 117 towers. Before the pulling conductors, construction of 113/117 foundations (96%) and election of 82/117 towers (70%) have been completed.

Phu Quoc is the first island city in Vietnam, and today electricity supply for the city implemented by the 110 kV undergrounded line, but electricity demand of the island is increased very rapidly so the very expensive 110 kV cable challenges overloaded risk.

Therefore, the early completion of the 220kV Kien Binh – Phu Quoc transmission line should contribute in ensuring a long-term stable, safe and reliable electricity supply for power source, contributing to ensuring safe, continuous and reliable power supply for economic recovery, security and national defense guarantee and attracting investment in Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang province in the coming time.

The project expects to be completed in the first quarter of 2022.
