EVN and WB discuss cooperation on pump-storage hydropower, LNG and offshore WPP

At the headquarters of the World Bank (WB) in Washington D.C. (USA), the Mission of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) headed by Mr. Duong Quang Thanh – Chairman of the EVN Member Council had a working meeting with WB leaders on researching the pump-storage hydraulic, LNG, offshore power development and financial arrangement for investing in power projects and establishing the Energy Transition Strategy.

EVN’s delegation worked with the World Bank’s leaders on cooperation contents in the coming time

Attending the meeting, from the WB side, were Mr. Ranjit Lamech – WB Regional Director for East Asia and Pacific, Ms. Carolyn Turk – WB Country Director for Vietnam and senior experts of the WB.

At the meeting, the two sides expressed their interest and possibility for cooperation in the coming time in researching the pump-storage hydraulic, LNG, off-shore power development and financial arrangement for the power projects development and the Energy Transition Strategy Establishment for EVN forwards to carry out the Government commitments in COP26 and continuously supporting to invest in upgrading power grid system.

The Cooperation program will be concretized by researching, considering to use of LNG for Quang Trach 2 thermal power projects, and the power grid projects for integrating renewable energy power projects.

EVN should closely coordinate with WB in Vietnam to deploy the following steps for carrying the projects in the cooperation program in the coming time.
