NSRP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2019-2020
Continuing the success of NSRP scholarship program undertaken for the last 4 years, with the intention of supporting the education of NSRP affected communities and Nghi Son district, in 2020, NSRP has continued to cooperate with Tinh Gia Association for Promoting Education to implement the scholarship program to support students in school year 2019-2020. Similar to school year 2018-2019, NSRP scholarship program targeted (1) students and pupils in difficulties from affected households in Mai Lam, Tinh Hai and Hai Yen (2) excellent students of primary schools, secondary schools and high schools in Hai Yen, Mai Lam, Tinh Hai, Nguyen Binh, Nghi Son, Hai Thuong, Hai Ha communes/wards and (3) provincial excellent pupils and their coaches in Hai Yen, Mai Lam and Tinh Hai.
From July 1st to July 21st 2020, NSRP has completed granting 204 scholarship slots at total amount of 874,000,000 VND to students and pupils in which: 130 slots were granted to students and pupils from difficult HHs whose land was acquired for NSRP in Mai Lam, Tinh Hai and Hai Yen communes or belonged to 4 fence line villages (Bac Yen – Hai Yen, Kim Phu and Tan Thanh – Mai Lam, Trung Son – Tinh Hai) and 74 slots for excellent students who achieve best study result at their grade of 15 schools in 7 above mentioned communes. Due to Covid 19 pandemic, provincial excellent competition has been canceled so the scholarship program for provincial excellent pupils has not been awarded accordingly.
During the granting ceremonies, Mrs. Vu Thi Thanh Van, Manager of Nghi Son district department of Education and Training expressed high appreciation on the contribution of NSRP towards the development of locality in general and education in specific. She does hope that NSRP will continue this meaningful program in long term and consider expanding to broader beneficiaries in the district.
Ms. Ha Anh, a student from Hai Yen commune who has continuously received NSRP scholarship for last 3 years shared that: “The scholarship is very meaningful, especially in my difficult situation. Without the scholarship from NSRP, I am not sure whether I can continue my study at university level. I will do my best to achieve good academic result and follow my dream”.
As a representative of school management board at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong, Headmaster of Nghi Son Primary School acknowledged and highly appreciated the effort and contribution of NSRP to the education development of Nghi Son district in general and Nghi Son Primary School in particular. This was the 2nd time her school received scholarship from NSRP and felt it was meaningful. She also gave her encouragement to awardees to try their best for their own future.
