Responsibilities

A Business Analyst (BA) in IT acts as a bridge between business needs and IT solutions by analyzing requirements, optimizing processes, and leading IT implementations. This role enhances efficiency, drives process digitalization, and ensures compliance with industry standards to maximize IT value and system utilization.

  • Functional Work:
    • Business & Requirement Analysis
      • Gather, document, and analyze business requirements.
      • Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications.
      • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements
    • IT Solution Development & Implementation
      • Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement solutions.
      • Support software development, system upgrades, and integrations.
      • Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT), training and validate system functionality.
    • Process Optimization & Digitalization
      • Analyze existing workflows and suggest automation opportunities.
      • Enhance system utilization and drive digital adoption.
      • Support business process reengineering initiatives.
    • Compliance, Risk, & Quality Assurance
      • Ensure IT solutions align with industry standards and best practices.
      • Identify risks in IT projects and recommend mitigation strategies.
      • Maintain documentation and compliance with rules and
      • Regulatory requirements.
    • Procurement:
      • Define and document the Scope of Work (SOW) for IT projects and services.
      • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify technical and functional criteria for procurement.
      • Evaluation vendor proposals and ensuring alignment with business needs.
    • Reporting:
      • Prepare report for project status, cost, etc in subject area.
      • Budgeting:
      • Assist in IT budgeting by analyzing costs and financial feasibility.
    • Policy and Procedure:
      • Contribute to building the Improvement process & procedures/standards.
      • Follow the IT Improvement process & procedures/standard.
    • Building Capability of Teams:
      • Organize hands-on training for in scope area.
      • Providing training, coaching, and mentoring to IT staff and stakeholders.
    • Other tasks assigned by Managers and superiors.
Requirements
  • Education Level : University or higher
  • Specialty/Qualification : Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Telecommunication, Business Administration, Finance or related field.
  • Work experience:
    • At least 5 years of experience in IT functional consultant/ business analysis and 2 years of experience in IT project management.
    • At least 3 years of experience in MES solution design and implementation.
    • Strong knowledge of MES systems (IBM Maximo).
    • Experience with MES integration with ERP systems (SAP).
    • Experience in Oil & Gas is a plus.
  • Business Analyst:
    • Requirement Gathering & Documentation: Eliciting, documenting, and managing business and system requirements.
    • Process Modelling: using tools like BPM, UML, Flowcharts, Visio to document business process
    • Stakeholder Management: engage with user, business leaders, IT teams, Service Providers to align the expectation.
    • GAP analysis: Identify GAP between business needs & IT capabilities
    • Feasibility Analysis: evaluate whether the requirement can be developed with available technology, tools & expertise
  • Technical:
    • Software development lifecycle: Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, and DevOps methodologies is an advantage.
    • IT Project Management: Experience managing IT projects from initiation to completion.
    • Change Management: Skills in assessing and implementing changes.
    • Manufacturing Execution System: Experience with MES applications (IBM Maximo, Yokogawa Operation Management System, etc).
    • Enterprise Systems: Experience with MES integration with ERP systems (SAP).
    • Oil and Gas Data Management: having knowledge in managing real-time process data, Process data historian systems, and historian databases for operation monitoring.
  • Analytical & Problem Solving
    • Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex issues and identify root causes.
    • Data Analysis: Extracting insights from data using Excel, Power BI, or SQL.
    • Risk Assessment: Identifying risks in business and IT processes.
  • Communication & Interpersonal
    • Technical & Business Communication: Writing clear & concise business requirements and technical documents.
    • Presentation Skills: Using tools like PowerPoint or Visio to present findings.
    • Negotiation & Conflict Resolution – Balancing stakeholders’ needs and IT constraints.
