Under the Community Health Development (CHD) 2023 project, from August to  October 2023, NSRP collaborated with Nghi Son District Health Center (NSDHC) to continue organizing a series of activities with the goal of improving the health conditions and raising awareness about diseases prevention & control for fence-line and proximity communities including Mai Lam ward, Tinh Hai ward and Bac Yen village (Hai Yen commune), as well as showcasing NSRP’s effort in managing social risks, complying with Performance Standards 4 about Community health, Safety and Security of  International Finance Corporation, and enhancing social acceptance

Accordingly, from August 2 to 10, 2023, the project cooperated with 12 inter-generational self-help clubs in Mai Lam, Tinh Hai wards and Bac Yen village to organize 12 communication events to raise awareness about chronic obstructive diseases prevention and control, and nutrition for the elderly. Most participants acknowledged and highly appreciated the purpose and method of implementing these events. Ms. Le Tu Nguyen, a villager from Kim Son residential group (Mai Lam ward), said: “the communication events about chronic obstructive diseases prevention & control and nutrition for the elderly are very useful to us, helping ourselves and our family members raise our awareness about the reasons of obstructive, the methods to prevent & control this disease and how to provide enough nutrition for the body. Thank NSRP and hope that the Company will continue to support similar activities in the coming time”.

In addition, from August 4 to 10, 2023, the project provided each of the two health stations in Tinh Hai and Mai Lam wards with a set of audio equipment including one speaker and one microphone to improve their ward clinic facilities to serve health communication events in the community. Tinh Hai and Mai Lam wards’ health stations highly appreciated the purpose of this activity. Mr. Cao Minh Ly – head of Tinh Hai health station said: “We are very happy that NSRP always cares about improving health condition of fence-line and proximity communities, community’s awareness about diseases prevention & control, and health facilities. Thank NSRP and hope that the Company will continue to support similar activities in the coming time”.

Furthermore, from September 23 to 24 and October 7 to 8, 2023, the project also coordinated with Mai Lam & Tinh Hai wards’ health stations to organize health screening activities for gynecology diseases, and health consultation for women aged from 18 to 60 in Mai Lam, Tinh Hai wards and Bac Yen village. The event attracted the participation of 310 local people. This activity received a lot of positive feedback from beneficiaries. Ms. Le Thi Mo – Thang Hai residential group – Tinh Hai ward shared: “The health screening activity helps us timely identify our health issues, then have proper solutions for health improvement. I hope that NSRP will maintain this support as an annual activity to contribute to community health development, especially for Women”.

Under the scope of CHD 2023 project, the project will continue to conduct eyes check, ear-nose-throat endoscopy for students of primary and secondary schools; and contests for women to raise awareness about reproductive health in fence-line wards of Mai Lam & Tinh Hai in the coming time.
