NSRP adjusted approach of HOPE project to maximize benefits for beneficiaries.

In August 2018, Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC (NSRP) and World Together signed a cooperation agreement to implement the Hope Project (HOPE) to support the operation of Tinh Gia Hope Center. Under the Agreement, NSRP can introduce up to 10 children with extremely difficult circumstances in the fence-line area so that the Hope Center can nurture and better enhance their physical, mental and intellectual development.

However, recent engagement activities in community have shown that there have been a number of children in extremely difficulties that need assistance but have not yet benefited from the Project because their families do not want their children to leave home when they live at the Hope Center.

Starting from the above fact, aim to improve the effectiveness of the Project and bring more benefits to the children in difficulties, NSRP Social & Community Section proposed and got the approval of NSRP’s Management on changing the approach of this Project. Accordingly, besides of maintaining the support of the children, living in the Center, the Project will provide the home-based support for the children with extremely difficult circumstances, living in NSRP’s northern fence-line villages that help to increase the number of children benefiting from the Project from 10 to a maximum of 20 children. This change has received great endorsement and support from the local authorities and communities, especially poor and difficult families who do not want their children to live far away from home.

To implement the new approach of the Project’s, in May 2021, the Social & Community Section and the World Together closely cooperated with the Department of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs of Nghi Son District, People’s Committees of Mai Lam, Tinh Hai wards and Hai Yen commune to directly visit for reviewing and re-evaluating the households, being proposed by the local authorities, thereby selected 14 children with extremely difficult circumstances to be supported at home, increasing the total number of Project’s beneficiaries to 20 children (in which 6 children have been currently living at the Hope Center).

Then, on May 28th, 2021, the Project gave the first support to the 14 children mentioned above with a cash support of VND 1,5 million/ child/ month at People’s Committee of Mai Lam and Tinh Hai Ward. This level of support is intended to cover part of the children’s daily living and studying expenses. Representatives of households and beneficiaries came to receive support and expressed their joy and sincere thanks to NSRP.

Ms. Vu Thi Dong – Lien Vinh residential group, Tinh Hai ward (Grandmother of Le Thi Hoai Thanh) – shared her emotion: “Our family is very grateful for the company’s care for Ms.Thanh and other children in difficulties. We would like to express our sincere thanks and wish the Company to always develop prosperously, and all employees always have good health.”

Hence, it can be seen that the new approach of the Project is very proper and timely. This has contributed to diversifying of the support way to community, helping people, especially disadvantaged children to have the opportunity to improve their quality of life and study better. At the same time, it has also convinced that NSRP is a responsible enterprise towards the community.
