NSRP General Director made a speech at the Conference of Connecting Investment and Trade between Thanh Hoa Province and Italy

Within the framework of the program “Italian Days in Thanh Hoa”, on the December 8 afternoon, the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee coordinated with the Italian Embassy in Vietnam and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (ICHAM) to organize the conference of connecting investment and trade between Thanh Hoa province and Italy.

Overview of the conference

On the part of the international and central government delegates, there was the attendance of Mr. Marco Della Seta – Italian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam; Mr. Michele D’Ercole, President of ICHAM; Mr. Bui Trung Nghia, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI); together with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and economic corporations and businesses from Italy.

From Thanh Hoa province there was Mr. Do Minh Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Trinh Tuan Sinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Thi, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; leaders of provincial departments, cities, districts and towns.

In addition, representatives of leaders of key associations and businesses in Thanh Hoa province also attended the conference. Representing the Board of Management Board of NSRP – the biggest FDI enterprise operating in the province, Mr. So Hasegawa – General Director had participated the Conference with an inspiring speech.

After 50 years with many important milestones, especially since the establishment of the strategic partnership between the two countries (January 21, 2013), the Vietnam – Italy cooperative relationship has developed comprehensively and deeply in all fields, from politics, diplomacy, investment, trade to culture, tourism, education – training…

Thanh Hoa province currently has 9 businesses exporting goods to the Italian market, with items such as garments, shoes, seafood, canned pineapples, and petrochemical products (benzene, p- xylene, granular sulfur). From 2021 to June 2023, the total export turnover of goods to the Italian market reached about 183.5 million USD.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Thi, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, outlined the potential and basic advantages of Thanh Hoa province. Accordingly, compared to a “miniature Vietnam”, Thanh Hoa province has all types of terrain and ecosystems, which are distinct values, creating the province’s advantages in transportation, land, and natural resources. labor, resources, culture, history… to promote investment cooperation and comprehensive socio-economic development with many developed countries.

Also at the conference, Mr. Marco Della Seta, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy in Vietnam, expressed his joy when participating in the seminar program on trade and investment promotion between Italy and Thanh Hoa province. He emphasized that this was an opportunity to promote economic flow between Italy and Vietnam. The important thing of this trip was that they had access to many localities, not just limited to big cities like Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.

Evaluating and sharing about the support of Thanh Hoa provincial government for foreign investors, Mr. So Hasegawa, General Director of NSRP emphasized: “We highly appreciate the close support, companionship, and direction of the Government of Vietnam and Thanh Hoa province in recent times. Their commitments and support in simplifying administrative procedures and providing preferential policies have contributed significantly to the stable operation of the Company.

Mr. So Hasegawa stressed that since NSRP came into operation, NSRP’s revenue had reached about 24 billion USD and contributed more than 3 billion USD to the State budget. During the construction phase, NSRP had mobilized more than 30,000 workers to work on site. Currently, the total number of employees working at the company is nearly 1,300 people, the majority of whom are Vietnamese.

“I am also pleased to announce that we have just completed the first Turnaround safely and successfully. This is an important milestone in the development and operation history of NSRP to improve the reliability and integrity of equipment over the long term. We still have a long journey ahead and it will certainly not be easy. However, I am confident that, with the efforts of all NSRP employees and the companionship and active support of the Government of Vietnam and Thanh Hoa province as well as relevant parties, we will overcome challenges and achieve our goals. Now, I can proudly say: Tôi yêu Thanh Hóa!” – Mr. So Hasegawa shared.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, on behalf of the leaders of Thanh Hoa province, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Mr. Nguyen Van Thi respectfully thanked the Italian Ambassador and Chairman of ICHAM for their important and valuable sharing about Thanh Hoa province and cooperation opportunities between Thanh Hoa province and Italian businesses.

Through this conference, Thanh Hoa province hopes to give delegates a panoramic view of the socio-economic situation, potential, opportunities, business investment environment, and investment cooperation needs of Thanh Hoa province’s trade with Italian partners.
