NSRP organized the final “Community Emergency Preparedness and Response (CEPR) Project” workshop

Over the past 5 months, the “Community Emergency Preparedness and Response (CEPR) Project” has taken place with many effective activities in improving skills to respond to emergency situations related to Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemicals LLC (NSRP), as well as first-aid skills for local officials and communities in the Refinery’s fence-line area. On March 25th, 2021, NSRP held a final workshop to summarize the implemented activities and lesson learnt for the implementation of similar projects in the future.

Overview of the workshop

The workshop witnessed the participation from representatives of Nghi Son District People’s Committee; representatives of the People’s Committees of communes/wards in the project area (Mai Lam, Tinh Hai and Hai Yen); representatives of 5 schools in the area which are beneficiaries of the project. Representing NSRP was Mr. Le Nguyen Quoc Vinh – Deputy General Director and representatives of related departments.

In his opening remark, Mr. Le Nguyen Quoc Vinh – NSRP’s Deputy General Director affirmed that the project was implemented very successfully thanks to the support and close cooperation of the local authorities as well as fence-line villagers. The project activities were very practical in improving the skills of responding to emergency situations related to NSRP for beneficiaries. The success of the project re-affirmed the companionship of NSRP with the development of local community in the spirit of “Good neighbors”.

At the workshop, the project team also presented in detail the results of each activity, along with active discussion among parties about the results, advantages, disadvantages and lessons learned of the project.

Representing the local authorities, Mr. Pham Van Nhiem – Vice Chairman of Nghi Son District People’s Committee, shared that the “Community Emergency Preparedness and Response (CEPR) Project” implemented by NSRP was a really practical and meaningful project, contributed to improving safety and security of the neighboring community, especially in emergencies such as natural disasters, storms, floods, explosions…. He also wished NSRP would continue to work closely with local people and authorities to implement similar projects in the future to raise awareness and facilitate the best welfare for the local people; continue to be an good example of implementation of corporate social responsibility to the community for other factories located in the area.

The final workshop of CEPR project took place successfully. Through this event, the discussed issues will become valuable lessons learned, the driving force for the successful implementation of future projects and once again, the delegates acknowledge the very active role of NSRP in leading the implementation of social responsibility for the community.
