On the afternoon of September 29th, 2020, at Hai Yen Secondary School, Hai Yen Commune, the Social and Community Section of NSRP held a kickoff meeting of “Education Support Project Phase 4” funded by NSRP and simultaneously launched the English writing contest among: Mai Lam Secondary School, Tinh Hai Secondary School, Hai Yen Secondary School, Dao Duy Tu Junior High and Tinh Gia III High School.

Education support has been always one of the first priorities of NSRP and the Education Support Project within the Strategic Social Investment program from 2015 till present to help contribute to the livelihood development of people in the neighboring area of NSRP in a sustainable and long-term way through: improving career-oriented skills, life skills and English skills for the students – the main labor force in the future.

The meeting received the attendance of Mr. Quan Giang Thao – Deputy Head of Nghi Son Education and Training Department, representatives of Party Committee, People’s Committee of Hai Yen, Mai Lam, Tinh Hai, School Board representatives and English teachers from related schools , representatives of the Center for International Education – Hong Duc University that has been implementing 28 English classes directly taught by foreign teachers and reporters of Nghi Son Radio and Television. From NSRP, there were Mr. Trinh Xuan Duc – Social and Community Deputy Section Manager, Mr. Phan Dinh Minh – Local Authorities Advisor of the S&C Section, Mr. Le Ngoc Huy – Social Strategy Investment Leader and other project staff.

The Education Support Project phase 4 focuses on implementing the following activities:

• English education and training: organizing 28 English classes directly taught by foreign teachers to improve communication skills for students in the period from September 2020 to December 2021;
• Vocational guidance workshops: organizing 04 vocational guidance seminars at 5 targeted schools with the participation of experts in different fields in September and October 2020;
• Life skills: organizing 02 life skills events at 2 targeted schools in November and December 2020;
• English writing contest: holding a school-level English writing contest at 5 targeted schools from September to November 2020;

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Quan Giang Thao – Deputy Head of Nghi Son Education and Training Department shared: “We highly appreciate NSRP in general and the Social and Community Section in particular that has paid great attention to the livelihood issues of the affected people and especially the education and training, study and talent promotion from the first phase of the Education Support project till now. The  contents and activities within the project framework are completely suitable for education and training in Vietnam. Especially, with regards to English training, the foreign teachers have greatly assisted students to improve their English skills and help them be more confidence in communication. We strongly hope that NSRP can continue implementing such meaningful program in long term.”

Representative of NSRP, Mr. Trinh Xuan Duc acknowledged the comments of teachers as well as the delegates, once again re-affirmed that NSRP would always accompany with projects to support and develop education, together to “incubate green seeds for the future of the country”.
